Primary Surgery: Non-Trauma
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (August, 1990)
Author: Maurice H. King
Average review score:

He saved me (and my patient) at least 3 times
This book enables you to do any kind of surgical operations, even if you are not able at all, even if you have never seen that operation done before. It is mainly focused on low technology operating techniques but shows also how to perform very complicated operations. It tells you all kinds of problems you can expect, all kinds of complication you may cause by your incapacity and how to solve them.
I used it a lot right before operations; it told me in advance the mistakes I would do and how to repair the damage.
Even if you work in a rich country you will find it great; in fact, even with high technology operating theatres, you can still use low technology to solve big problems.

Primary Surgery, Volume One
This manual for surgery in Lesser Developed Countries would be invalualble for any physician contemplating working overseas in operating suites far less sophisticated than they would be used to here in the United States. It is full of specific descriptions and illustrations covering a comprehensive list of surgical procedures one may be asked to do while doing volunteer medical work. The little vignettes about actual situations at the end of each chapter add an excellent perspective. My associate,... has used this book extensively in Haiti for thirteen years, and finds it extremely useful.

Prince William: Born to Be King
Published in Mass Market Paperback by New American Library (December, 1998)
Author: Richard Buskin
Average review score:

Bravo, Buskin. Bravo, Willy. Bravo, Publications Int'l
I live in England but, do you know, I've never followed the activities of the royal family. It's not always something special when you've grown up with it all your life, and they've done much to let themselves down in the past 20 years, the poor souls. So I've never followed Prince William and, really, know nothing about him. That is, I didn't until I read this book. I was at O'Hare airport in Chicago, flying back to England, when I saw it in at the bookstall. Something made me take it off the shelf - I've no idea to this day why - and it caught my interest as I flicked idly through the pages. I immediately liked the writing style - it's very descriptive, but not too much: it's artfully done. Why, for just a few bucks I got to learn more, much more than I ever thought I'd want to know about William. But I enjoyed it! It's quite a rollercoaster story, and an amusing though pretty accurate insight into British life and culture, written by one who should know - The author biography says that Mr Buskin "is a British journalist". It shows. (It also says that another of his books, about Princess Diana, was a New York Times bestseller. That must be one heck of a book - I'm already looking out for a copy.) I think Buskin must be a pretty savvy guy, and he certainly writes a witty line reminiscent of the British Carry On films. For example, I think he had tongue firmly in cheek when he wrote: "And so the stage was set: His naughtiness was about to evolve into Dreamboat Willy."

This book is written for all ages.
The author promises to let the reader know: " Why William was know as 'Billy the Basher,' How he coped with his parents' troubled marriage, What he does for fun and excitement, Why his former nanny is now his closest friend, and How he feels about being popular with girls all over the world." Richard Buskin does accomplished these things. However, if one has kept up with the Royal Family, then, one know everything in the book and much more. Princes William possesses many more nicknames than just 'Billy the Basher.'

Despite this, the book is well-written which one can not say about many of the books written about Prince William. This book can be appreciated by adults and not just gushing teenagers who are crazy over Prince William. It's easy reading and can be easily read in an hour.

Richard Buskin has written several books about the Royal Family - Diana in particular.

Prince William has had to grow up rapidly considering the events which have taken place in his life. As everyone knows, the world is on the verge of a new millennium, and for William, the twenty-first century king, it appears to be there for the taking. There are many picture of Prince William from infancy to the present; however, there are no new ones.

Since the death of his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince William has grown into a mature young man, and whatever the future holds, the eyes of the world will certainly be on Prince William.

This is a paperback book which contains 159 pages and measures 4x63/4 inches.

The Princess in the Pigpen
Published in Paperback by Harcourt (January, 1995)
Author: Jane R. Thomas
Average review score:

You will love this book and wish that they have another!
Princess in the Pigpen is the best, I want to give it 5 stars. Elizabeth was really sick and Sukie first gave her a bath and dried her off and then put her in bed.
When she lay down in the bed, this light struck her in the face when Sukie opened the curtains. When she rolled over away from the light, she was in a different place. This man was standing by her.
He asked her "What are you doing here, miss?" in amazement. She started calling for her dog and Sukie but they didn't come. She tried so many times but they still didn't come. Than this woman came in and put her hand on her forehead. The lady said that she (Elizabeth) was ill so they took her to the doctor and she took a look at her. She took off Elizabeth's dress and gave her some medicine to make her feel better.
After they took her to the doctors, they took her to get their daughter. They hate each other at first, but after a little bit later, they become friends. They have a lot of fun together.
The girl goes into the barn to get Elizabeth back home to get some medicine for her mother. They do a lot to get back home. I know I left out a lot but I'm running out of time. Trust me, you'll love this book!!!!!!

an charming story for young readers
this book details the story of a young princess from the 1600's who is transported into the future to the year 1988. the charming fairy tale of sorts follows her story as she befriends the family whose pigpen she has appeared in, manages to find her way back home, and saves her dying mother in the process. well written to be pleasurable reading, its the perfect choice for that special little girl in your life.

Princesses Are Not Quitters!
Published in Hardcover by Bloomsbury USA (19 March, 2003)
Authors: Kate Lum and Susan Hellard
Average review score:

Wonderful, wonderful!
This is the perfect updated fairy tale. It's light and charming, and makes you feel it's okay to let your little ones indulge their princess obsessions. The three bored princesses trade places with their servants for a day, and it turns out to be a real eye-opener. The princesses make a change for good, and end up sharing the palace workload on a permanent basis. The message of compassion is never too sappy, sweet, or preachy, and the illustrations are truly humorous. I also really enjoyed the rhythm of the text when reading it to my kids. My two girls love it!

About the race to discover one's own capabilities

Charmingly illustrated by Sue Hellard, Princesses Are Not Quitters is an adventurous and recommended read about the race to discover one's own capabilities.

A Psychic Perspective, Insights on Love, Wealth and Personal Happiness
Published in Paperback by Cambia Productions (08 July, 1999)
Author: Phyllis King
Average review score:

WONDERFUL!! Entertaining as well as useful.
The author begins the book by giving the reader an in-depth look at the trials of her own life. This is very fascinating and useful, as the reader understands her insights to be based on real experience and personal enlightenment. Thus, the reader feels a connection with her, and becomes very open to the wisdom she beautifully articulates as she transitions into a pragmatic discussion of "A Psychic Perspective." The astute knowledge she shares with the reader reveals a powerful and irreproachable perception of how to become personally successful in all areas of your life. Readers will benefit from her gentle and comprehensive guidance. A Psychic Perspective showed me that spiritual growth is a no-nonsense approach to dealing with real life issues.

An honest and revealing view of self and psychicness
This is a wonderful book. I read it cover to cover in two sittings!

The author reveals an honest, and sometimes painful, look at herself, her life and her insights. Insights that have helped her and how they can help you, and how you can help yourself.

The honesty portrayed in this book is sincere and I felt that it came from a place of positivity. Her advice is always directed to you , the reader, and never loses its focus.

Once you read her story, you'll know she really has insight into life and living, all in a positive vein.

Psychopathia Sexualis: With Especial Reference to Contrary Sexual Instinct: A Clinical-Forensic Study
Published in Paperback by Bloat (01 March, 1999)
Authors: Brian King and Richard von Krafft-Ebing
Average review score:

Pioneering text of crimonological psychology
Though it is difficult to obtain nowadays, this is a classic compendium of some 230 case histories dealing with sexual perversions, presented in often fascinating detail. The terminology may have changed since the compilation of these "pathologies", which range from lustmurder, "contrary sexual instinct", (homosexuality) frottage, masochism, sadism, sadomasochism, ideal sadism and pederasty. Though presented in a spare, descriptive, purportedly detached tone, it cannot be denied that Krafft-Ebing's purpose is not to offer an objective analysis, but to assume also the role of a guardian of moral order: a prognostician and theraputician of the deviances and illnesses that menace society. This role can only be fully understood in the context of his time, which unambiguously asserted the type of patriarchal masculinity and the sanctity of the monogamous bourgeois family. Under this standard, any "deviance" from these norms was not to be simply addressed by curative means, but also punitive ones. It would be interesting to put into contraposition the rhetorics and paradigms of Krafft-Ebing and Foucault, who, in more recent years, provided masterful and penetrating insights into the epistemic and discursive formations that have been used in modern society to regulate and police sexual behaviour, as in the nineteenth century's obligation to pathologise homosexuality as an "aberration", a category rejected in the mainstream of the West. Though it must be of great interest to students of forensic medicine and clinical psychiatry, this study would also be equally appreciated by non-specialist readers who are interested in the subject of sexual deviance.

It's a classic of non-fiction
Buy this only if you: - want to know what people are capable of doing; - think, being gay is an illness - so did the author before one of the later editions, where he reevaluated his own studies. - think, people are ether healthy or sick and nothing in between; - believe in god - what a great imagination must the creator have... - interested in sexual perversions and perversity and don't yet know the difference! It's a fundamental work and great easy reading with some amazing case-studies. Very hard to put down. Enjoy!
